The steamship is the main mode of transportation used by Phileas Fogg and Passepartout in their around-the-world journey. The steamships they use for travel are as follows:

The SS Transatlantic steamship, owned by Cunard Line, sailed from Yokohama to San Francisco on November 18, 1872, taking 22 days, 10 hours, and 30 minutes.

The SS Great Eastern steamship was owned by the Great Eastern Railway Company and made a journey from New York to London on December 10, 1872, taking 16 days and 22 hours.

These fireboats were the most modern fireboats of that era, with a large size and high speed, allowing them to cross the ocean in a short time.

In the novel “Around the World in 80 Days,” in many scenes, such as the scene where Phileas Fogg and Passepartout face a storm in the Indian Ocean, the scene where they have to escape from pirates, all the way to the scene where they have to save the life of a kidnapped young woman.

The steamship therefore symbolizes the technological progress of that era and represents long journeys and adventures.

Steamship Charm is an ocean-going vessel powered by a steam engine. The Charm’s sidewheels are both rotatable. An anchor is hanging at the stern of the ship and the words “Bon Voyage” are engraved on the bottom of the hull. This is to ensure that every journey is a wonderful time and a safe and enjoyable trip.
