In ancient Greek mythology god of love was named Eros. In Greek, Eros means love. The Romans used the Latin name of love, Amor, but sometimes they also termed the god Cupido, which means desire. Eros was the Greek god of love and sexual desire. He was also worshipped as a fertility god, believed to be a contemporary of the primaeval Chaos, which makes Eros one of the oldest Gods. In ancient Greek, Eros was the son of Aphrodite, goddess of love and had as his father either Hermes, Hephaestus or Ares (and several others). In Roman, Amor was the ancient god of love. He was the son of Venus, the ancient goddess of love and war god Mars. He had great power because he could hit both humans and gods by falling-in-love arrows. Whether named Eros or Amor, he was depicted as a winged boy with bow and arrows. His arrows could make humans and gods fall in love. It happened often at the behest of his mother whom he sometimes helped. His power was not only considered to be positive, as love can cause people and gods grief and misfortune as well. From primordial force to god of love. From the Greek, Hellenistic era and the Romans, he was seen as a bittersweet god of love because he brought love double meaning of joy and sorrow of gods and men. I am a great admirer of the power of love in life and hope to all people that they get the opportunity to meet love and that the arrows of Amor / Eros / Cupido may hit as many people as possible.
